Making choices is a fundamentally human activity; the freedom to choose is essential to the exercise of individual autonomy. But to what extent are our choices truly our own? The systems around us sometimes constrain our options, and at other times subtly or overtly influence our decisions. Institutions and structures that influence choice may emerge spontaneously, or they may reflect a design of “choice architects.” This panel will examine three topics related to choice, from legal, economic, and organizational perspectives. -
