Call for Thematic Series Proposals

Green College is currently welcoming proposals for thematic series to run at the college in future academic years (2027-28 and onward). In keeping with the original mandate for Green College, thematic series hosted by the college are in collaboration with UBC professors, other academic units at UBC, or community partners, and are non-curricular, interdisciplinary and/or cross-sectoral. Like all public programming at Green College, they are offered free of charge and are open to the general public.

Topics typically engage with theories, research, and practices in established and emergent fields of interdisciplinary scholarship and the creative arts. The themes explored vary widely.

If you wish to propose a series with Green College, please contact the college’s assistant principal, programs, Dr Heather Muckart, by Thursday, November 12 at: gc.programs@ubc.ca.

Green College promotes advanced interdisciplinary inquiry through free public lectures, events, and performances as well as relaxed discussions around the dinner table. It has been praised as “an exemplary incubator of interdisciplinary research and learning that realizes in path-breaking ways the ambition to cross-disciplinary exploration and dialogue that research-intensive universities pursue but find difficult to achieve.”

Everyone is welcome at our public events, listed here. If you’d like to receive a regular update on our public programming, subscribe to our weekly newsletter: The Green List.

Want to host a conference, workshop, or event at Green College? We are always welcoming new collaborations! Please contact the college's events and content lead to discuss how we might help support your activities.
