  • John Nightingale

A marine biologist, Dr. Nightingale has guided the expansion of the Vancouver Aquarium’s leadership in conservation and research during the past 20 years, turning the aquarium into one of the “greenest” cultural institutions in Canada. His passion for promoting awareness of biology and public outreach has led to the implementation of new communication technologies and other innovative public education programs at the Vancouver Aquarium. He has served as a director on several boards including the World Ocean Network, the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Canadian Zoo and Aquarium Association, the Minister's Advisory Council on Oceans at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the BC Marine Protected Area Steering Committee (to achieve their goal of establishing Canada's first marine protected area), and the Canadian Polar Commission.
