Music has the capacity to evoke emotions and experiences that words cannot always convey. This solo recital explores non-verbal communication, taking as its starting point “A Conversation Piece,” a musical dialogue by legendary Canadian composer John Weinzweig (1912-2006). CBC Radio 2 describes Réa Beaumont as “a tremendous pianist.” She has given international performances and made acclaimed recordings broadcast in 13 countries, most recently on BBC Radio 3. In collaboration with leading composers, such as R. Murray Schafer, she has premiered over 50 works, including those commissioned for her by the CBC. Beaumont is a specialist in the music of Canada and has lectured at academic institutions internationally. Her coaches included Anton Kuerti, Robert Silverman, Robert G. Rogers, Menahem Pressler and Marc Durand. Formerly a faculty member at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Beaumont is now affiliated with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
