Green College Resident Members' Series -
Join us for a fun romp into the entanglements and freedoms of bridging theory and practice, and the need for flexible approaches that include human realities and big ideas. As Jacob will explain, the field of theatre is particularly useful for exploring these ideas. In this talk, he will connect his theatre work with metaphors plucked from the history and philosophy of science in the late 20th century.
Jacob Zimmer is a theatre maker, facilitator and dramaturge. Born in Cape Breton, growing up in Halifax, studying in Vancouver and spending fifteen years in Toronto, Jacob now lives in Whitehorse when he isn’t at UBC completeing his MFA in Theatre Directing. Awhile back, he received a BFA from Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts.
Each week, the Green College Resident Members’ Series features a different presenter (or presenters) from among the Resident Members of Green College. Graduate students, Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars offer talks and events on their areas of research or study and, as appropriate, bring in their research colleagues from outside the College.
Series Conveners: Michael Carelse, Library and Information Studies; Michelle Kamigaki-Baron, Linguistics; and Ricky, Physics and Astronomy
