Copper at a Crossroads: The Role of Risk in the Challenges Faced by the Copper Mining Industry
Coach House, Green College, UBC
Monday, November 4, 8-9 pm
Green College Resident Members' Series
Yet, despite the global awareness of the importance of copper and the eagerness of global markets to purchase copper, Canada is yet to ramp up production. As a resource-based economy, Canada is poised to generate incredible revenues on the green transition, but capital remains hesitant to flow towards copper mining projects in Canada.
Adhithya’s talk explores the role of risk in the financial challenges faced by the copper mining sector, and what forms of risk are inherent to mining while others are determined by global hegemons, specifically China.
Adhithya has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University and a Masters of Global Affairs from The Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He is currently pursuing a JD at the Allard School of Law in UBC. He is passionate about the intersection of law and global markets and how they work to shape geopolitics in the emerging multipolar world order.
Unless otherwise noted, all of our lectures are free to attend and do not require registration.
