Join us for a Zoom poetry reading and artist’s talk by the inaugural Meredith and Peter Quartermain Poet in Residence and the 18th Writer in Residence at Green College Margaret Christakos, called Plow & Flow: Words Close Together in Space/Place. She will read a selection of poems drawn from published work, discuss some digital photo-collages from her #instantmind project, and invite the Zoom audience to improvise with some brief writing activities.

On site in January through April, Margaret will animate Distance as a Keeping, a program of open creative workshops exploring the solo and the polyvocal, embodied apartness, architectural assumptions, boundaries, bodies and spaciousness. Workshops will propose experimentation with compositional procedures of constraint and improvisation, and no previous experience is required.

As well, over the winter term, Margaret will animate three guest reading events at the College, presenting several exciting contemporary guest writers/performers, and making space for the audience to take part in spatialized “choral” encounters, hopefully in person, and in place.

Margaret Christakos is attached to this earth. Born and raised in Sudbury, Canada of settler ancestry, she is a widely published poet, fiction writer, image-maker and innovative poetry mentor engaged since the late 1980s in an experimental lyric feminist poetics of relationality, direct and indirect address, social media and embodiment, voice and touch, constraint and improvisation, order and disorder, memory, and public listening.
