Humanity’s Expansion into Outer Space: Our Ambition and Its Consequences
  •
  • Space is full of dangerous radiation that poses serious threats to human health, yet we have managed to establish a permanently inhabited station in orbit and will likely be back on the Moon within the decade. In the latest of the OSI/Green College lecture series, Aaron Boley talks with Jeffery Chancellor, assistant professor of physics at Louisiana State University (LSU), about the study and mitigation of the effects of space radiation on human health during space travel. In addition to teaching, Professor Chancellor is the director of SpaRTAN Physics Laboratory at LSU, where interdisciplinary teams research the impacts of space radiation on human health and space vehicle hardware.
