Humanity’s Expansion into Outer Space: Our Ambition and Its Consequences
  •
  • Humankind has been launching objects into Space and to nearby celestial bodies for more than sixty years. In this conversation, Michael Byers (UBC Political Science) speaks with pioneering Space archaeologist Alice Gorman from Flinders University, Australia, about the archaeological significance and heritage value of Space objects—from defunct satellites and debris still in orbit, to the abandoned rovers and equipment on the Moon and Mars. Prior to joining academia, Professor Gorman worked as a professional heritage consultant. Professor Gorman is also the author of Dr. Space Junk Vs The Universe: Archaeology and the Future.
