  • What does a composer do when live concerts and performances are on hold? Walker Williams presents a lecture-recital of some of his recent compositions, focusing on the unique difficulties and new opportunities of writing music in 2020. With a mix of music and commentary, we’ll cover recent musical explorations from “études for composer”, to multi-track recordings of graphical scores, to self-performing web-based music. Walker Williams is an eclectic composer from rural West Virginia, whose compositional style runs the gamut from conservative tonality to avant-garde performance art (admittedly with an overall tendency towards writing ‘pretty music’).

Walker is currently pursuing doctoral studies in composition at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and he holds a MMus in composition from UBC, and a BA in music composition from Shepherd University in West Virginia.
