Passports: Early Music from Around the World

In Search of Music From the Qajar Dynasty

Saeed Farajpouri is one of the greatest living performers on the Iranian kamanche (spike fiddle). For this concert he is joined by Amir Koushkani, a researcher and master performer of the Iranian tar (long-necked lute), along with Hamin Honari on the tombak (goblet drum). They will perform Iranian music in a manner that is faithful to the style in which would have been presented during the Qajar Dynasty of Iran (1789-1920). This is the first in a season of concerts to which the 2019-21 series of presentations by Early Music Vanouver at Green College, Cultures of Performance, was prelude.
