  • A university degree teaches you critical thinking, how to communicate ideas to others, and how to carry out original research. It also gives you the ability to reinvent yourself to thrive in an endlessly evolving job market.

What could you do? How about building new technologies that create new markets? Or creating new business strategies to make sure your company is still around in 5 years? Add a billion dollars to a company’s bottom line? Or transition into the fields of artificial intelligence and fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology for advanced cellular communications? ANY university degree prepares you to be a valuable and lasting contributor to ANY industry—and sometimes lets you spend quality time with CEOs, political leaders, and Hollywood executives, because you can explain amazing things to non-experts in under 30 seconds.

Carrying out research and publishing papers in pursuit of tenure is just one path… Come and hear about some of the alternatives… and how YOU can get there!

Dr. Ken Urquhart (PhD in Physics, SFU) is skilled in analytics, mathematics and programming and has been using those skills to solve challenging business problems for over 25 years. He has been an executive at Sun Microsystems, IBM, and Microsoft and is now at Luxoft, a DXC Technology Company, where he consults with leading global organizations, corporations and start-up businesses on 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Blockchain.
