Three Common Misconceptions in Physics
RESIDENT MEMBERS’ SERIES
Bruno Arderucio
Coach House, Green College, UBC
Monday, November 6, 8-9 pm
There are three widespread misconceptions about physics that any physicist or any layperson who reads about physics has either heard before or will eventually encounter: the arrow of time and its relation to thermodynamics; quantum entanglement, causality and locality; and information loss in black holes. The goal of this talk is to expose the erroneous views, point out their flaws, and offer more appropriate reasoning.
Bruno Arderucio is a Ph.D. candidate in theoretical Physics, specialising in General Relativity and Quantum Fields in Curved Spacetimes. He completed an MS.C. and BS.C. at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
