The Rise of China and the End of the World as We Know It
Professor Arif Dirlik, born in Turkey, is a former professor of Duke University, recently retired as ''Knight Professor of Social Science'' from the University of Oregon. He is a renowned sinologist as well as an accomplished social theorist. He is versed in the Chinese language and history as well as Marxism and postcolonialism. Professor Dirlik has long been devoted to research on modern Chinese history, especially Chinese revolution history. His works such as Revolution and History: Origins of Marxist Historiography in China, 1919-1937, The Origins of Chinese Communism and Anarchism in the Chinese Revolution laid the foundation for Professor Dirlik to become a Chinese research authority in the Western academic field.
