  • Jennifer Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman joined UBC as a Canada Excellence Research Chair in July 2015 and is establishing a new research program focused on creating and imaging new quantum materials with atomic precision. Before joining UBC she was a professor of physics at Harvard University. During her decade at Harvard, she made key contributions to the understanding of single atomic impurities and electron organization in materials such as superconductors and topological materials. Dr. Hoffman has earned the Moore Foundation Experimental Investigator Award, a Radcliffe Fellowship, a Sloan Fellowship, and the USA Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering. She is a twotime winner of the USA Track & Field National Championship 24-Hour Run, covering over 222 kilometres in 24 hours in the 2015 race.
