50 Years of UBC Fun: As a Student, as a Math Researcher, and Working with Schools
George Bluman, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, will reflect on his experiences as an undergraduate student at UBC (1960-64), as a PhD student at Caltech (1964-67), and as a professor at UBC (1968-2014). He will discuss escapades along the way as student, researcher, undergraduate chair, head of department, member of UBC Senate, member of the executive of the UBC Faculty Association, member of the UBC Medical School Admissions committee, vice-president of the Canadian Mathematical Society, in working with schools, and in dealing with the media.
George has co-authored over 75 research papers and five books published by Springer. He has also translated a book from Russian to English and has had four books published in China.
