Welcome to Green College!

Heather Summers and Emily Adams are this year’s Welcome Committee Co-Chairs. They are excited to carry on the Welcome Month tradition at Green College.

Hello, new Green College Resident Members!

We are Heather and Emily and we are your Welcome Month Committee Co-Chairs! We are second year resident members and are really excited to welcome you to Green College in September. We are both from Ontario and both completed our undergrads in Ontario. Emily is studying law and Heather is a master’s student in Geography.

Welcome Month was such a great experience for both of us last year that we decided we wanted to be a part of making Welcome Month great for new Residents this year. There will be a lot going on during Welcome Month but the goal is that by the end you feel a part of this great community. All of our committees are planning some great events for you, including a hike, urban safari, coffee house and weekend pancake breakfast. We look forward to meeting you all soon!

Emily Adams is a second-year student in the Juris Doctor (J.D.) program at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. She holds a B.Sc. in Forensic Science from Trent University, in Ontario. This summer, Emily worked as a Clinician at the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, representing clients in court, conducting legal research and drafting documents for her clients.

Heather Summers is completing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in the Department of Geography at UBC, with a research focus on climate change and coral reef ecology. “My passion for marine biology developed when I completed field research projects on coral reef biomes with Operation Wallacea in Cuba and the Bahamas and more recently worked as a Caribbean Reef Ecology Lecturer in Honduras. For my M.Sc. work I am interested in examining the impact of climate change on the health and function of coral reef ecosystems.”
