  • Though the mantra of real estate is “location, location, location,” the local influences on a single plot of land do not tell us everything we need to know in order to understand the marketplace. The global flow of capital, expertise and ideas also shapes individual sites and local markets. Likewise, to understand the environmental impact of the foods we consume, we cannot rely on a simple calculation of the water used inside a kitchen. Instead we must also measure the water required to produce and transport the food across a vast geography. By tracking these two forms of movement, this paired set of talks will examine how flows, often across international boundaries, impact our world and our understanding of our place within it.
