  • The art of writing a feature story requires a great deal of research, interviewing, writing and editing. In this talk, Brent Holmes will read from his forthcoming feature article, "The Stranger on Your Doorstep: Harassment and Identity Theft on Online Dating," and walk his audience through what goes into composing a work of long-form journalism. The talk will explore the borders between the arts of writing and fact-based reporting, as well as the processes of verification and editing.

Brent Holmes is a second-year Masters of Journalism student at the University of British Columbia with a focus on social media, data reporting and film. He has covered a wide range of stories for The Globe and Mail, The Standard Freeholder and The Western Gazette.
