  • The starting-point for this talk is Sam Rocha’s recently released concept album, Anamnesis. After saying something about the work’s composition and played a few tracks, he will open up the concept of anamnesis, a Greek word that resonates both in Roman Catholic liturgical theology and in the philosophical idea, originating with Plato, that all knowledge is innate. He will argue that these senses of the word, artistically signalled to the listener in the album, lead from art towards a notion of the conscience that has important implications for a philosophical understanding of education.
