Dr Theresa Muñoz is a Canadian poet living in Edinburgh, Scotland, with a PhD from the University of Glasgow. She has published two collections of poetry. Her first collection, Settle, was shortlisted for the Melita Hume Poetry Prize. Her second collection, Archivum, an exploration of what it means to engage with archival artefacts, was published by Pavilion Poetry in late 2025, and was nominated in the Saltire Literary Prizes 2025. She has been awarded the Muriel Spark Centenary Award, Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship, Creative Scotland Award, and shortlisted for The Kavya Prize and a Sky Arts Royal Society of Literature Writers Award. She has directed several literary initiatives in the UK, including the Newcastle Poetry Festival and the James Berry Poetry Prize.
For her residency, Theresa has organized a public series that explores some of the themes found in her latest collection, Archivum. In the series titled Archives: Legacy, History, and Creation, she examines how archives and historical texts can inspire creative responses in writers and musicians. Working with archived material can be a singular experience, as going through sounds, photos, letters, and records encourages feelings of intimacy, closeness, and appreciation of historical materials. The series focuses on writers and musicians who are inspired to use records and artefacts to create layered narratives in their work.
Theresa Muñoz is in residence at Green College for three months, beginning in January 2026.
