Colours, Cells, and Stories to Tell

In this talk, I will share how my journey with art, shaped by studying abroad and by my love for painting and photography, has transformed the way I see the world. Art has been a constant source of reflection, inspiration, and connection throughout my life in Canada. During my time at UBC, I have encountered many inspiring individuals whose perspectives have deeply influenced my creative practice. Through personal stories and a showcase of my artworks, I hope to welcome the audience into my evolving artistic world. The talk will also include a small interactive workshop designed to spark joy, inspire creativity, and invite new, unique ways of seeing. Above all, I hope to create a space where others can find meaning, connection, and inspiration through art.

Sara Li is pursuing a Master of Management at UBC Sauder after recently completing her Art History degree at the University of Toronto. Her art practice centres on photography and painting. Through photography, she explores the fluid relationship between reality and perception, reimagining ordinary moments in surreal ways. Her abstract, colourful paintings draw inspiration from cells and organelles, building a distinct visual world that reflects individuality and invites viewers to celebrate their own uniqueness.
