When Larissa Fleurette Ho was an eleven-year-old child, she experienced auditory hallucinations that would mark the beginning of a thirteen-year struggle with mental illness—one that is not yet over. Larissa will share these insights, as well read excerpts from her creative non-fiction stories (published under the name “Larissa Fleurette”) in a collection called “Becoming Silver Girl.”

Increasingly complex architectural geometries present new challenges for structural engineers. This talk will look at a co-rationalized design process in collaboration with architecture students here at UBC. It will also describe the specifically structural research concerns which arose from the broader investigation, namely the flexural properties of curved or cross-grained CLT.
