This panel will begin with psychological theories on anxiety and discuss how Music Performance Anxiety can be understood as a form of social anxiety. We will then examine specific aspects of Music Performance Anxiety, and explain how clinical psychologists make sense of its psychological and physiological manifestations and how they can be treated from various therapeutic orientations. Finally, we will present a series of strategies for preventing Music Performance Anxiety. These include tips for framing practice time and the pre-performance lead up.
