  • Most people have attended a live music performance. For the audience, the experience can be one of deep transformative power. Unfortunately, this is not always the experience of the performer. Music Performance Anxiety can have devastating effects for the performer and can ultimately end a promising career. In this lecture recital, pianist Emily Logan will perform Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin and will also share her research into the performer’s struggle with Music Performance Anxiety.

Pianist, Emily Logan is a 3rd year student in the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia and is a UBC Public Scholar. Emily received a Master of Music in Piano Performance program from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University. She is also an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and School. As a performer, she has given solo and chamber music recitals, and was guest artist at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Emily is the recipient of numerous awards, including local and national competition placement, UBC scholarships, and ArtsNB Grants. Emily’s research work focuses on the wellbeing of musicians, looking specifically at interventions for Music Performance Anxiety.
